The Seokguram one of Korea’s greatest tangible national treasures and is finally now becoming famous around the world as one of the most supreme pieces of global Buddhist art. In English, Seokguram means “Stone Cave Hermitage.” The artificial cave was first constructed by Kim Daeseong in 751 A.D according to Legends Seokguram was built for his parents from his former life.
Considered the most beautiful Buddhist temple of the Silla Dynasty, Bulguksa Temple focuses on a simple yet harmonious design aesthetic. At the entrance stands Dabotap Pagoda, one of the most well-recognized artifacts of Korean history. It’s unique construction is based on scientific principles.
Cheomseongdae Observatory built during the reign of Queen Seondeok (r. 632-647) of the Silla Dynasty for observation of the movements of heavenly bodies. It is the oldest astronomical observatory in Asia and is widely regarded as a precious cultural heritage that gives us a clear idea of the level of technological development of that time.
