Your day with Frankland Islands Reef Tour starts as you board our air-conditioned coach from Cairns and travel south through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed rainforest, fields of sugar cane and past the iconic Walsh’s Pyramid – the highest freestanding natural pyramid in the world!
Enjoy a calm water river cruise down the Mulgrave River, followed by the shortest open water crossing of any of the Cairns day tours to Normanby Island, putting you in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef in no time. Frankland Islands Reef Cruises is the only commercial operator licensed to land on beautiful Normanby Island, so you can relax and explore with plenty of space and time. Plus, once you’re on the island, you can customise your day trip to suit your interests – our all-inclusive day tour has a fabulous range of optional activities to choose from.
Set off on an adventure snorkel safari guided by our marine biologist, explore the sea floor while staying dry on our semi-submarine tour with commentary, join our marine biologist for an informative guided island walk, go for a paddle with our kayaks or stand-up paddleboards and tuck into a delicious beachside buffet lunch – do as much or as little as you like, you’re on island time! Once you’ve had enough vitamin-sea, reboard the Turtle Islander and enjoy your relaxing return to Cairns, arriving in the late afternoon.

- Should the weather create an unsafe environment, then Frankland Islands will cancel tour. Frankland Islands will endeavour to accommodate the needs of guests and advise alternative
- No refund will be provided for pre-booked Intro Dive experiences for failed medical clearance or changes of mind
- If the itinerary is changed or the tour is cancelled after departure due to circumstances beyond the control of Frankland Islands, no refund of any portion of the fare will be provided
- Frankland Islands reserves the right to refuse to board any passenger and/or goods at our discretion
- Please note that traveling on open water carries inherent risks. Frankland Islands will not be held liable for any loss or damage to passengers or their belongings, whether caused by negligence or otherwise
- If a medical form has been incorrectly completed, Frankland Islands reserves the right to prohibit any customer from participating in introductory scuba diving or snorkeling activities on board our vessel
- For safety reason, Frankland Islands reserves the right to prevent any customer’s participation in scuba diving if they are deemed physically or medically unfit to do so or in Frankland Islands sole discretion
- Tours are subject to the risks and perils of scuba diving in changeable conditions in an open water environment
- It is strongly recommended a wait of 24 hours before flying after diving
- Customers must not participate in scuba diving or snorkeling under the influence of alcohol or drugs, entry to the water may be refused if there are reasonable grounds to believe a customer has consumed alcohol or drugs that could impair their ability to dive or snorkel safely
- Fishing is not permitted on this tour
