Row the Darwin Route with Patagonia Dreams I lived a unique expedition along the Santa Cruz River, recreating part of Charles Darwin’s mythical journey in Patagonia. We set off in 4x4 on Route 40 to the river, where, after a technical talk, we began kayaking downstream between geological formations and native fauna. After a 15 km journey, an outdoor lunch awaits us at Estancia Río Bote, by the river. An experience that combines history, adventure and nature at its finest.
Ideal for travelers looking to connect with deep Patagonia.
Pickup included
The day starts when we pick you up in El Calafate in 4x4 vehicles. We head to the Charles Furh Site, located 40 km from the city. Upon arrival, our guides will welcome you with an introductory talk on rowing activity and basic principles. While you perform some heat entry exercises, we will prepare the equipment to begin the journey.
All in all, we begin kayaking along the Santa Cruz River, paddling approximately 80 minutes along 15 km. Along the way, you will cross an unspoilt landscape, in the heart of the Patagonian steppe, an area very little explored and of silent beauty.
After the tour, we disembark in Rio Bote, where we will enjoy a well-deserved Patagonian lunch in an incomparable natural environment. The menu includes: entree, main course, dessert and drinks. To close this adventure, we return to El Calafate in 4x4, first by ripio roads between desert landscapes, and then by the emblematic Route 40, leaving behind an unforgettable day.
