Te Rau Aroha – Museum of the Price of Citizenship is a contemporary, immersive museum at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds (opened in 2020) that explores the sacrifices made by Māori since 1840 in war—particularly highlighting the Pioneer Battalion and the 28th (Māori) Battalion—with interactive galleries and a reflective memorial inscribed with thousands of names to honour their service.
