Itinerary

Piazza San Marco

We begin our workshop in the heart of Venice—Piazza San Marco, bathed in the soft, golden light of the early morning. At this hour, the square is at its most magical—quiet, atmospheric, and free from the crowds that fill it later in the day. Here, we will: • Capture the first light – Learn how to work with the golden hues and long shadows to create striking images. • Focus on composition – Using the grand architecture of St. Mark’s Basilica and the elegant arcades to frame your shots. • Experiment with reflections – The early morning often brings beautiful water reflections on the piazza’s stone surface. • Refine camera settings – Adjust exposure for the changing light conditions and optimize for depth and detail. • Embrace storytelling – Capturing the essence of Venice waking up, from the first footsteps of locals to the quiet ripples in the Grand Canal nearby. This first stop is about setting the tone for the workshop. learning to observe light, and the scene

Gallerie Dell'Accademia

Accademia Bridge & Piazza Santa Margherita (30 minutes) From Piazza San Marco, we make our way to the Accademia Bridge, one of the best vantage points to capture the Venetian sunrise. Standing atop this iconic wooden bridge, we’ll capture the sun rising over the Grand Canal, illuminating the city with warm golden hues. Here, we will: • Work with backlight & silhouettes – Master the art of capturing the soft morning glow and silhouettes of gondolas and historic palazzos. • Experiment with reflections & water movement – Adjust shutter speed to capture smooth water textures or crisp details. From here, we move away from the postcard views and into the real heart of Venice. A short walk takes us to Piazza Santa Margherita, one of the liveliest squares in Venice. Unlike the more tourist-heavy areas, this piazza is where locals gather—students heading to class, early risers enjoying coffee, and shopkeepers opening for the day.

Rialto Bridge

We continue our journey to the Rialto Bridge, one of Venice’s most iconic landmarks, before stepping into the vibrant world of the Rialto Fish Market, where the city’s daily rhythm comes to life. Standing on Rialto Bridge, we capture one of the most classic yet ever-changing views of Venice—the Grand Canal bustling with gondolas, vaporettos, and morning reflections From here, we step off the bridge and into the Rialto Fish Market, where Venice’s daily life unfolds in its rawest form. Mornings at the Mercato di Rialto are a feast for the senses—vendors calling out prices, fresh seafood glistening on ice, and locals selecting the catch of the day. This is where Venice feels alive, full of movement and authentic energy. This stop adds a documentary-style approach to our workshop, teaching you to observe and anticipate real moments as they happen—creating images that feel alive.
