Head into the gorgeous backyard of Florence: Tuscany! Home to scenic countryside roads, thousands of acres of vineyards, medieval villages, and panoramic viewpoints, it is the perfect way to spend a wine tasting in the afternoon! Meet at Piazzale Montelungo, about a 5-10 minute walk behind the Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Your Tour Leader will be waiting in bright orange to check you in. Find a seat on the modern and comfortable GT Coach bus, and we will be on our way into a paradise of Italian wines. The drive will take about 45 minutes.
After meeting some new friends during the drive into Tuscany, we will arrive at the first winery. Nestled into the hilltops of the Chianti region, your breath will be taken away by the mesmerizing views of the countryside. A wine producer will meet our group to discuss the winemaking techniques as you tour the winery and cellars. We will follow him into the picturesque tasting room to enjoy 4-5 glasses of white and red wines, including various levels of Chianti wines. Enjoy some of the delightful flavors of Tuscany such as pecorino cheese, truffle oil, and balsamic vinegar accompanied by the wine. You will have the option to purchase and/or ship wine home from the winery! The wine tasting will last about an hour.
The drive to the next winery will take approximately 20 minutes. We will enter a gated wine estate: a true hidden gem in the rolling hills. You will be greeted by endless vineyards, renaissance statues and architecture, classy decorations, and even horses and black roosters! After snapping some picture-perfect memories, your wine tour will begin! Learn about the family’s generational-wine making secrets, then taste 4-5 award-winning wines. Your tasting will be accompanied by fresh salami, cheeses, and bruschetta. You will have the opportunity to purchase wine to ship or take with you. The wine tasting will last about an hour.
