After the recent works of renovation and restoration, the historic center of Trieste has gained again the elegance and splendor of its past, from the findings of Roman ruins to the splendid palaces dating back to the Austro-Hungarian period. The consequence is a glorious jumble of architectural and ethnic influences. In the space of 15 minutes, you can find Serbian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox and Helvetic Evangelist churches, while the city’s synagogue is one of the largest in Europe. The main square piazza dell'Unità d'Italia is the largest square overlooking the sea in Europe. Castello di Miramare This majestic white castle, the beloved home of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg (brother of Emperor Franz Joseph), overlooks the sea and is surrounded by a huge park full of rare and exotic tree species collected by the Archduke himself in his scientific expeditions around the world aboard the frigate Novara. The Castle was built for Maximilian, who fell in love with the view of the small bay and decided to build his home here, where he lived with his wife Charlotte of Belgium. This is our usual proposal.
