This is not a show or a factory tour. It is a rare chance to take part in a hands-on olive oil making workshop using old tools and methods that have almost disappeared. The factory is 130 years old and the process is slow, manual, and personal, just like it was for generations in Crete. Our family will guide you through every step, sharing stories and knowledge passed down over time. Guests leave with a deeper respect for olive oil and Cretan food culture, and with a small bottle of our family’s olive oil as a reminder of the experience.
Experience the original and traditional way of making olive oil in Crete, just like our ancestors did. This is a fully hands-on workshop at the 130-year-old olive oil factory of Spiridi Olive Oil Farm. You will weigh olives. Crush them using a stone mill by pushing it yourself. Transfer the crushed olives into large sacks. Press the olive paste into oil using a manual wooden press. Our family will guide you through every step. At the end of the workshop, we will offer you a 100ml bottle of our family’s extra virgin handmade olive oil as a souvenir. This activity is perfect for travelers looking for an authentic local experience and a connection to Cretan food heritage.
