From the picturesque old Okehampton station, take a guided walk trough the wild Dartmoor woodlands and into town where you can choose to visit a range of interesting shops and attractions, or stop and find refreshment at the friendly cafes or pubs. Alternatively, you can contact walk leader Matt and arrange to meet in the town centre at a car park or cafe of your choice. You can arrange a circular walk or you can choose to end up in a different location. Your route can include wild wooded valleys where fast flowing rivers rush by and a short climb up to the moor for spectacular views of Devon. Your walk can start from the station or the town centre and head out on to the edge of the moor where you can choose your route to include ancient woodlands, wildflowers, rushing rivers and habitats for scarce woodland creatures. Discover the origins of Okehampton at medieval or iron age settlements. Walk routes are typically 2.5 to 8km(1.5 to 5 miles) 2-4 hours approx. Your walk could end in the market town of Okehampton where you can have lunch and enjoy the afternoon or at the station before catching your return train home.
