Our Ale Trail stands out by offering a unique, self-guided biking experience with the freedom to explore at your own pace. Ride along the scenic 16 km Wharehuanui Trail, taking in the stunning alpine views of the Whakatipu Basin.
Start with a shuttle from Queenstown and enjoy brewery stops at Slowcuts, Gantley’s Tavern, The Cargo Collective, Canyon Brewery and Searchlight Brewery. You’ll ride on probably the best bikes in NZ, with access to premium equipment, helmets, maps, and full support via text.
Enjoy flexible pickup options, either from the Pig and Whistle or your accommodation, and relax on the scenic shuttle rides. This tour combines biking, craft beer, and Central Otago’s beauty for a truly unique adventure.

By 10:30 AM, you'll arrive in the historic town of Arrowtown. After a quick briefing between 10:30 and 10:45 AM, you're free to explore.
Pre-Ride Beer Stop: Kick off your adventure with a beer at the popular Fork and Tap, one of Arrowtown’s iconic pubs, from 11:00 AM. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere and fuel up for your ride.
Self-Guided Bike Ride: At 11:45 AM, set off on a scenic 1.5 to 2-hour ride along the 16 km Countryside Trail. Take in the breathtaking views of the Whakatipu Basin as you ride at your own pace. Maps, helmets, and support via text will be provided to ensure a smooth experience.
You can choose to be picked up from a list of locations, or alternatively, have the choice to make your own way to the meeting points
While Ballarat Street is closed, our temporary meet and greet zone is at "The Station" building located at 43 Camp Street outside Marmolada Cafe. Near the roundabout, corner of Shotover Street and opposite Brobike. Pick up times are 10am sharp for the 10am session and 12pm sharp for the 12pm session.
We will meet you outside the Pig and Whistle Pub located at 41 Ballarat Street. Pick up times are 10am sharp for the 10am session and 12pm sharp for the 12pm session.
