Leifeng Pagoda, also known as "Huang Fei Pagoda", is located on Leifeng Mountain on the Xizhao Mountain on the south bank of West Lake. Many people's "Leifeng Pagoda complex" comes from the legend of White Snake. Although the old pagoda collapsed in 1924, this one is newly built on the original pagoda base. It has elevators and air conditioners, but it does not prevent you from coming here to find the traces of White Snake.
Leifeng Pagoda itself is a major attraction of the entire scenic area. The newly built Leifeng Pagoda is more like a museum. There are 5 floors from the base to the top. After checking the ticket, take the elevator (of course, you can also climb the stairs next to it) to the base of the pagoda. Here you can see the broken base of the old pagoda surrounded by glass. There are coins all over the floor, which is also a scene of Leifeng Pagoda. There are also some cultural relics unearthed from the underground palace on this floor, and an Ashoka Pagoda is very exquisite. Going up, you come to the bottom of the pagoda. This floor exhibits a large Dongyang woodcarving mural "The Legend of the White Snake", which is very detailed. From here, continue to go up to the official tower. There are walking stairs and escalators inside, and most of the time you need to queue up.
There are poems and murals on every floor of the pagoda, but most people climb the pagoda to see the view. The view from the top of Leifeng Pagoda is very good. Not only can you see the panoramic view of West Lake, but you can also overlook the full view of Jingci Temple opposite. Especially at night, the lights along the shore of West Lake outline the outline of the entire West Lake, and the scenery is intoxicating.
In addition to Leifeng Pagoda, there are also small attractions such as Sunset Pavilion, Miaoyin Terrace, and Release Pond in the scenic area. Among them, there is a huge rockery in the release pond in front of the pagoda, which is hung with released tortoises; the Buddha's spiral hair relic can be seen in the Buddha Relic Hall.
