This area, cradled by the Greater Caucasus mountains to the north and bordered by the Alazani and Iori Valleys, offers a unique microclimate ideal for grape cultivation. The rich, fertile soil and the varying altitudes create an exceptional environment for a diversity of grape varieties. The history of wine in Kakheti is deeply rooted, tracing back thousands of years, evidenced by ancient wine cellars and traditional winemaking methods still in use today. The region is famous for its traditional "qvevri" winemaking process, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, where wine is fermented and stored in large earthenware vessels buried underground, imparting a distinct character to the wine.
