Discover the Spiritual Heart of Old Tokyo: A Day at Jindaiji Temple

We’ll meet at Musashi-Sakai Station’s south exit. From there, I’ll drive us to Jindaiji Temple.

On the way, I’ll explain the basics of Japanese Buddhism and the temple’s long history.

At Jindaiji, we’ll stroll the quiet grounds and join a traditional oharai purification ritual. Inside the main hall, you’ll observe monks performing this ceremony, where sacred fire is still used—a rare tradition preserved over centuries.

You purchase a protective ofuda charm. The purification ritual requires the purchase of “Ofuda”. The cost of the “Ofuda” is already included in the participation fee.

Next, we’ll enjoy handmade soba noodles at a local restaurant with insights into the land, food, and history.

To end our journey, we’ll sit on a bench or Aquatic Botanical Garden.in a fancy street freshly prepared "Matcha" and a seasonal Nerikiri, a traditional Japanese sweet served in tea ceremonies.
