The journey begins in the heart of Fujiyoshida, where you’ll board a charming horse-drawn carriage. You will enjoy a leisurely ride through the retro Honchou street and the central areas of the city, surrounded by the fresh energy of spring.
As the carriage gently rolls past traditional buildings and little shops, take in the beauty of cherry blossoms in bloom, creating a picturesque scene with the majestic Mt. Fuji in the background. Sip on green tea and try dango, a classic Japanese sweet, as you soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the season.
This experience is perfect for those looking to enjoy a slow and scenic exploration of Fujiyoshida while embracing the magic of spring. Of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture stunning photos of Mt. Fuji along the way!
The core of our mission is [Well-being]—not just for our guests and horses, but as a guiding principle of everything we do. We’re committed to creating harmony between people, animals, and nature. Barikiya plays a crucial role in animal welfare by providing retired horses with a second career in tourism. In Japan, horses often face limited options after retirement. By offering them a new purpose, we essentially save their lives while allowing them to thrive in a healthy environment. We also work on preserving Japan’s cultural heritage, the ancient art of Yabusame (horseback archery), which is less practiced in modern times. By sharing this tradition with people from around the world, we strive to keep this important part of our history alive. Together, we can preserve tradition, promote sustainability, and create a meaningful connection between humans and horses.
