One of the most beautiful natural attractions in Bulgaria. On the top of the rocks rises a massive monument of stone blocks. Built in memory of the fallen September soldiers in 1923. On the rock in front of the monument there is a tall metal cross, erected in memory of all fallen climbers and mountaineers. The caves formed here are attraction for speleologists and cavers from all over the world and numerous of bats. The views are beyond amazing and the caves can cool you during a hot day. Lakatnik is aways magical!
The cave 'Temnata dupka ' - The Dark hole cave, is just 27m above Iskar river. It is the longest cave in the area - 9km long, has 4 floors, ponds and even small waterfalls, but it is poor of formation. It attracts speleologists and cavers from all over the world. We will be able to check the gate of the cave (depends on the season and weather) and talk about caves a lot more.
The monument Septemvryitsi 1923 -The Septembers 1923 is our top destination. First we are going to see it from the train platform and we will keep seeing it until we reach it. That would be our summit. The view from the top is wonderful and contains the beautiful gorge of the Iskar river, the rails which are next to the river and the whole village station Lakatnik! We will have more time here to relax and talk about the reason why this monument has been built.
Rujishka cave is another cave which we can visit. It's just below the monument and it's only 316m deep. The end of the gallery is blocked from collapsed rocks which makes 28m wall. We will stop here and check that nature creation.
