At Underberg, you are transferred into a 4 x 4 vehicle and from here you go up a gravel winding pass that is higher and steeper and much tougher than any of its Southern African competitors. Sani Pass
This tour departs from Durban at 6am and returns back to Durban at 6pm. Get an early start, after being picked up at your hotel or other accommodation in Durban, begin the drive from Durban along the N3 highway and travel past Pietermaritzburg. Continue on N3 until you reach Howick where you take the R103 route. Here you travel through the Natal Midlands, admiring the scenery until you reach the town of Underberg.
