Hue City, on the Huong (Perfume) River, is one of the must-see destinations on the Viet Nam Heritage Road. Located three hours north of Da Nang, Imperial Hue was the capital city of Viet Nam for approximately 150 years during feudal times (1802 – 1945).
Although many of its finest city buildings were destroyed during the American War, the city is still a land of pagodas, temples, tombs, culture, special cuisine, and history.
