We start our tour in front of the Porta da Vila, the historic entrance to the walled city. This majestic portal, dating from the Middle Ages, immediately plunges us into the medieval atmosphere of Óbidos. By crossing its imposing walls, you will take a step into the past, surrounded by the ramparts and cobblestone alleys that will lead us through the history of this emblematic city of Portugal
After crossing the majestic Porta da Vila, we venture into the picturesque streets of Óbidos, where history is revealed at every corner. You will discover whitewashed houses decorated with colorful flowers, and local shops offering typical handmade souvenirs. We will continue our exploration by visiting several historic churches in the city, each telling its own piece of history through its architecture and artistic details.
Castelo de Obidos
We will then visit the surroundings of Óbidos Castle, a fascinating place where history blends with the beauty of the landscapes. Although the interior of the castle is not accessible, the ramparts and surrounding gardens offer stunning panoramic views of the city and the surrounding countryside. We will take the time to walk around the fortified walls, admiring the architectural details and imagining life in this medieval fortress. It’s a real immersion in history, with spectacular views at every turn
