It was a favorite of Ismail Qemali, the first Prime Minister of Albania after the country's declaration of independence in 1912. For the best experience, Tave Kosi is best enjoyed warm, served in its traditional bowl. This dish can be prepared year-round due to the availability of its simple ingredients. While Tave Kosi can be made with either lamb or veal, the traditional recipe calls for lamb, which brings out the authentic flavors of this beloved dish.
