I am Montpellierer and for more than 3 years I organize guided tourist tours in Montpellier by bike taxi in the Historic Center and contemporary neighborhoods

Having the capacity to accommodate only 2 people on board the scooter and following an important request for groups, I propose this guided tour, this time on foot!

Get ready for a trip to Ancient Greece in the Antigone district (by architect Ricardo Bofill) and Japan with architectural folly the White Tree (by architect Sou Fujimoto among others)

Many photo stops are planned throughout the visit

This tour is perfect for travelers who want to see another side of the city and architecture lovers.

No difficulty, the whole route is on flat and some steps to climb

Please arrive at the meeting place 10 minutes before the departure time.

Itinerary

Antigone

The Antigone district, designed by architect Ricardo Bofill, is largely inspired by the architecture of ancient Greece. Bofill has incorporated classic elements such as colonnades, porticoes and pediments, recalling the aesthetics of ancient temples. But architecture is not alone in evoking this influence. The path of the neighborhood is also marked by monumental statues and majestic fountains, which reinforce this classic atmosphere. Statues, often representing heroic or mythological figures, punctuate the landscape and bring a symbolic dimension, while fountains, with their water games and sculptures, contribute to the elegance and serenity of the space. The Antigone district is home to several highlights that we will discover together the Olympic swimming pool, the Media Library, and the Hôtel de Région

Montpellier

We will then follow the river Lez to join this architectural folly the White Tree

Montpellier Town Hall

Passage over the Lez to see in the distance the Town Hall of Montpellier then return to the starting point along the river Lez and certainly enjoying the wildlife present (egrets, ducks, cormorants...)
