The tour starts in the marvelous Saint Mark's Square where there is the imposing Doge's Palace
An unmissable guided tour to discover the Doge Palace: the most important palace of the Venetian Republic, where you will see how Venice was ruled during the golden centuries. Be stunned by hundreds of artistic masterpieces in its spectacular rooms, paintings and sculpture from the best of Venetian artists. Cross the Bridge of Sighs and go down in the old Venetian prisons and feel the anguish of the prisoners. Here also Giacomo Casanova was jailed.
The Basilica of San Marco is Venice’s jewel in the crown. The cathedral evokes the blending of East and West that is at the heart of the Venetian character. More oriental than European, the architecture, the decoration, and the atmosphere of ancient sanctity span both the centuries and the styles of Mediterranean civilization. A visit to the terrace of St. Mark’s Basilica offers a breathtaking perspective over Piazza San Marco and the Venetian lagoon. From here, you can admire the intricate façade up close, including the famous bronze horses of St. Mark, once looted from Constantinople. The terrace provides a rare opportunity to step outside and experience the grandeur of Venice from above, making it one of the most memorable highlights of the basilica.
