On the island of Manga is the Fort of San Sebastian del Pastelillo, which has now become the location of the famous Club de Pesca restaurant. In this place there was the fort of Boquerón, which was destroyed in 1741 by Admiral Vernon in the attack on the city of Cartagena. Together with other fortresses such as Fort San Jose and Fuerto de San Fernando , it controlled the maritime traffic of the bay to prevent possible attacks.
