Since you will be traveling along the path that many African Americans' ancestors took, it is especially worthwhile to see as a prelude to seeing Cape Coast Slave Castle. Slaves took their final bath at Assin Manso before continuing on their journey. Additionally, it contains the location of the reburial of the repatriated remains of two diasporas, Carson from New York and Lady Crystal from Jamaica.

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park

One of the biggest slave markets for assembling individuals to sell into slavery during the infamous transatlantic slave trade was Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park. As you will be traveling the same path as the ancestors of many African Americans, it is especially worthwhile to see as a prelude to seeing Cape Coast Slave Castle. In what is now Elmina, Ghana, the Portuguese built Elmina Castle in 1482 (formerly the Gold Coast). It was the Gulf of Guinea's first trading post to be established. You will learn about the activities of the slave trade era and its impacts on communities, countries, and humanity at large through this attraction. strolling through the nearby fishing market Elmina is another charming fishing village on Ghana's coast.
