Itinerary

Alexandria

Begin your day with a private transfer from your hotel in Cairo. Egypt's Alexandria serves as a major Mediterranean port. It was the location of a library with a rich history and a lighthouse that was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World during the Hellenistic era. The library has been reborn in the form of the ultramodern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which takes the form of a spherical disc. Ancient Greek and Roman sites coexist with modern restaurants and beaches in this city. The Qaitbay Citadel, which was built on the waterfront in the 15th century, is now a museum. The travel duration from Cairo to Alexandria is around 2 hours each way.

Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa

Located in modern-day Alexandria, Egypt, the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa are often regarded as one of the Middle Ages' "Seven Wonders." The necropolis is a collection of tombs, statues, and archaeological artifacts from Alexandria that date back to the Pharaonic funerary cult and shows influences from the Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman periods. Several of the statues in the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa are Egyptian in style yet wear costumes and hairstyles more typical of the Roman Empire. This is only one example of how the catacombs' characteristics blend elements of Roman, Greek, and Egyptian culture due to the period in which they were built. Tunnels were dug into the rock during the reign of the Antonine emperors to create tombs, and a circular staircase was used to lower the dead down into them (2nd century AD).
