Atago Shrine
Atago Shrine was enshrined as a god of fire prevention more than 400 years ago, in the early Edo period. The shrine is located on the summit of Mt. Atago, which rises 26 meters above sea level. This is the highest mountain in the 23 wards of Tokyo in terms of natural terrain. It is famous for its steep stone steps known as the "Success steps." It is also located in an office district, so the temple is an oasis in the heart of the city for people.
