Itinerary

Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids

Saqqara is the oldest cemetery in Egypt, used since the First Dynasty. It was the burial place for Memphis, Egypt’s first capital. It holds the famous Step Pyramid of King Djoser, the first pyramid ever built. Saqqara also has important tombs like Kagemni’s and King Teti’s, with detailed wall paintings. The entrance features limestone columns shaped like papyrus stalks. Saqqara is rich in history and treasures, showing the start of pyramid building and ancient Egyptian burial traditions. It’s one of Egypt’s most important archaeological sites.

Memphis and Sakkara

Memphis was the first capital of ancient Egypt and one of its most important cities. It was a large and powerful city with temples dedicated to gods like Ptah, the city’s main deity. Memphis had impressive palaces, statues, and was a center for trade and government. Today, Memphis is mostly ruins, but visitors can still see the remains of temples and a giant statue of Ramses II made of granite. The site shows how important Memphis was in ancient times as a political, religious, and cultural center.

Pyramids of Dahshour

Dahshur is an ancient royal cemetery located south of Saqqara. It’s most famous for the pyramids of King Sneferu, the father of King Khufu. Here, you can visit the Bent Pyramid, which has a strange angle in the middle because they changed its design during construction. It’s one of the best-preserved pyramids from the Old Kingdom. Next to it is the Red Pyramid, called that because of the color of its stones. It is the first true smooth-sided pyramid in Egypt and marks a big step in pyramid building. Dahshur is a quiet and peaceful site, with fewer tourists, and it gives you a chance to explore the beauty and development of pyramid architecture in a calm, open desert area
