See Marin's world-famous redwoods without the crowds on your moderately strenuous, 3 to 4-hour, guided small-group tour led by an expert local guide. Access the iconic redwood groves of charming Mill Valley on foot and navigate the quiet trails following the fern-lined canyons at the base of Mt. Tamalpais. Experience cathedral-like ancient trees in a primeval creek-side setting and explore the redwood groves for about two and a half hours. The walk begins with a shuttle from a meeting place near the ferry landing in downtown Sausalito (ferry ticket not included) and then a stroll through Mill Valley's historic Old Mill Park before heading out into the redwood forests and park-like neighborhoods.
We stroll through downtown Mill Valley to a shaded canyon to trails in the ancient redwood forest.
You will make your own way to the meeting points
• Walking/hiking attire is recommended • The walk is moderately strenuous and is about 5-6 miles in length • Not wheelchair accessible • Minimum age is 10 years • Important pre-walk information: If traveling by ferry from San Francisco, you will need to take the 10am departure from the Ferry Building, located at the foot of Market Street. The ferry arrives in Sausalito at 10:30am. Please give yourself ample time to travel to the Ferry Building and purchase round-trip tickets (ferry tickets are not included in the tour price). Note: Clipper Cards give a substantial discount on ferry fees. They are available at the Bay Crossings kiosk in the San Francisco Ferry Building and at ferry ticket machines. The Golden Gate Transit ferry terminal and ticket machines are located in a separate building on the water side of the Ferry Building near the Gandhi statue. Meet your guide(s) by the benches. They will be wearing red or gray backpacks and black ballcaps. We will shuttle in private vehicles to Mill Valley from here. If traveling by car to Sausalito, we recommend parking in Sausalito public lot #4, which has all-day parking for $5. Lot #4 is located along the marina near the Seafood Peddler restaurant. Please note: Ferry ticket is not included in tour price. Pre-loaded Clipper cards (available at kiosks and machines at the SF ferry landing) provide a significant discount on ferry fares and can be used on other transit systems in San Francisco area (buses, trollies, BART, etc). Sausalito Ferry Landing can also be reached by Lyft or Uber for usually less than $30 one way. The Ferry Building and nearby areas on Market Street has numerous places to purchase pack lunches before the walk.
