Spain is one of the most prolific wine countries. 70 Designations of Origin and at least 23 indigenous grape varieties. You will learn key facts about some of the most prominent wine regions in Spain such as Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but also, you will get a taste of less known Spanish wine regions currently making outstanding wines.
We will serve wonderful tapas to pair the wines and will give useful and fun tips related to match food and wines.
Practical info about Spanish labels and the ageing system will also be shared to complete the wine experience!

This is a historic, fun and and informative wine route in central Madrid! Don't miss out this fabulous wine tasting tour!
We will be meeting in Chueca Square ('Plaza de Chueca') from where we will start our walking tour. We will head to the first historic tavern to taste a traditional style of Vermouth, poured on tap. You will get historic facts about the tradition of drinking Vermouth in Madrid as well as a definition of what Vermouth is; how it is made and the different kinds of Vermouth.
Thereafter, we will go to the second tavern to experience a modern style of Vermouth, very trendy nowadays in Spain and served as a cocktail along with fantastic 'Gordal' olives, the biggest and very meaty kind of olives from the Andalusian region. You will obtain insights about bottled Vermouths and the different styles wineries are currently producing in Spain.
To continue with our wine discovery, we will head to the third tavern where we will taste 3 wonderful Spanish wines, starting with a Cava (a fabulous Spanish Sparkling wine made following the traditional method), followed by 2 still wines (a white and a red wines or two red wines). All wines and vermouths will be paired with delicious and tasty Spanish tapas.
Also, you will get an explanation about wine tasting techniques and the stages of a wine tasting; interesting facts about each of the wineries producing the wines we will taste; the characteristics of each Designation of Origin where they are located; the specific 'terroir' (the area) where vines grow and tips about the ageing system of Spanish wines and how to read labels! (very useful when choosing and buying wines).
