English guide
Meet your guide at the Acropolis metro station to begin your tour. You'll first explore the Acropolis hill. On your way up, check out the Dionysus Theater, where they used to perform ancient dramas and tragedies. Walk around the impressive Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius. At the hill's top, visit the Propylea, the Temple of Nike, the Erechtheion Temple, and, of course, the Parthenon – a symbol of democracy and Western civilization. These monuments from the 5th century B.C showcase the greatness of ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles.
Right after exploring the Acropolis, you can also visit the Acropolis Museum, just a short walk away. On the ground floor, you'll see items from daily life in Athens – things like wedding traditions, toys kids liked, how they healed, and their religious practices. Upstairs on the first floor, you'll stand close to mysterious old statues from the 6th century B.C that were once on the Acropolis. Walk by the Caryatids and big pieces from the Acropolis entrance. On the top floor, enjoy a stunning view of the Acropolis while admiring the original and outstanding Parthenon frieze in its unique concept and artistic excellence.
Proceed on foot to the Parthenon, a sacred tribute to the goddess Athena, revered as the protector of Athens. Marvel at this pinnacle of 5th-century Doric architectural brilliance.
