The building you are going to visit was built from the end of 1200 and was the second seat of the Florentine Republic. In 1500, the palace became the residence of Grand Duke Cosimo I de Medici and finally in 1800 it also became the seat of Parliament. Inside, you can visit the Halls of the Government of the Republic, the rooms of the Grand Ducal family, the Sala dei Gigli, the Sala delle Geografiche and the Sala della last Chancellor of the Republic. But the main attraction is the Salone dei 500, entirely frescoed by Giorgio Vasari. Nowadays, the building also represents the seat of the Municipality of Florence.
