The area that separates Lecce from the sea proves the beauty of Salento’s landscape and still preserves the traces of the important role that this area played in the history.
Riding out from Lecce towards the southeast through secondary roads, we will reach the fortified village of Acaya, a Messapic site where you will admire the majestic medieval castle, the walls of the village and its ancient city plan, still preserved.
Then we will move towards the WWF natural park “Le Cesine”, which hides many beautiful plants and water birds. So we will refresh with a nice swim in Torre Specchia and we will cycle back to Lecce crossing a landscape full of olive trees and small villages
We will pass by the mediaeval town of Acaya, taking a look at the castle and its defensive wall. We will stop in the main square for a "Caffé leccese" (coffee with ice and almond syrup) break.
We cycle trough this well preserved natural reserve - where you will be inebriated by the smell of eucalyptus and other autocton plants/trees.
If the weather is good we will stop here for a swim break, to restore during the hottest hours and eating the sandwich that we usually buy in Acaya.
You will make your own way to the meeting points
