Legend has it that Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) was founded in the 14th century by Charles IV, the Czech king and Holy Roman Emperor. It is said that the ruler discovered the unique springs here while out hunting deer. It has hosted figures such as Goethe, Beethoven, Gogol, Paganini, Casanova, Mozart, dozens of heads of state, and in recent years, many movie stars thanks to its film festival, one of the most important in Europe. .
