The tour starts by picking you up at your place (hotel, apartment, house, Airbnb). The friendly guide introduces about him/herself and how to sit on the motorbike in the right way. After making sure you feel comfortable on the back of the bike, the guide drive you through main roads, then narrow alleyways which are home to most of Saigon and the hidden part of the city. Stopping at a green memorial park, you learn about the less-known history and the heart-broken story about Thich Quang Duc monk who burned himself until death in order to protest the way Ngo Dinh Diem - President of the South Vietnam treated Buddhism. The huge statue and large-sized relief are worth seeing but missed by most of the tourists.
Are you curious about how Saigon people lived 50 years ago? We will take you to an apartment building area since 1969, which has not been changed so much. Small apartments, wrought iron windows, wooden louver shutters, cement tiles, structures, materials and people still remain.
The biggest wholesale flower market is not located in a building but hidden in alleys of Ho Thi Ky Street. Besides trolling into lines of popular flowers in Vietnam, visitors can also see how hustle and bustle a flower market is. The wet local market next to Ho Thi Ky sells everything, from commodities to clothes, from raw foods, live animals, pork organ meat to amazing street foods. Let’s “đi chợ” (go to market) like local people.
