Sitting side by side with the weavers, you'll lend a hand in tying various knots and pounding away at a rug. You will see and learn about daily life in a rural Moroccan village, a cultural exploration that few travelers have the chance to experience.
Pickup included
Come get lost in the centuries old art form of weaving as you learn from the weavers themselves. Help assemble a loom and learn how to weave designs into Moroccan rugs. From 10 am to 2 pm: Our Transportation will pick you up from your lodging or other location at 10am and bring you to the weaving cooperative in Ait Yahya Oualla, 4 km from Azrou. Upon arrival you will be served Moroccan tea and cookies and meet the weavers, learn about the local cooperative, and weaving basics. You will actively participate in the assembly of a weaving loom, immersing yourself in a centuries-old tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation. With the assistance of the weavers, you will witness firsthand the main technical steps involved in making a rug. Sitting side by side with the weavers, you'll lend a hand in tying various knots and pounding away at a rug. After concluding your weaving lesson you’ll have the option of indulging in a home hand tradition Moroccan lunch, tajin. We hope you leave with new friendships and lasting memories all the while gaining the rewarding experience of helping to create a handcrafted Moroccan rug. We will provide return transportation.
