Tucked away under the slopes of Signal Hill, this suburb formerly known as the Malay Quarter, is a bright and vibrant neighbourhood with a rich Cape Malay culture. Visitors can take memorable pictures with the colourful houses as a backdrop , and get to explore the Islamic “kramats” (shrines), mosques and food and craft markets, and discover the delicious Cape Malay cooking.
Table Mountain
Table Mountain is a must-see attraction in Cape Town, offering panoramic views, cable car rides, hiking trails, and free tours. This New 7 Wonder of the World is a haven of magnificent mountains plunging into crystal seas. From the top of Table Mountain you can see right out over the City Bowl, the Water Front, Table Bay, Devil’s Peak, Lion’s Head and Robben Island.
Cape Point Nature Reserve
If your looking for a meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean, then look no further. Cape Point falls within the southern section of Table Mountain National park. Take in some of the most breathtaking ocean and mountain scenery in the world. Rugged rocks and sheer cliffs towering more than 200 metres above the sea and cutting deep into the ocean, provide a spectacular background for the park’s rich bio-diversity. The natural vegetation of the areas fynbos comprises the smallest but richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms. Hike along a wide variety of scenic and overnight trails through natural fynbos and along sandy beaches. Great swimming spots, picnic sites and walks at the Bordjiesrif and Buffels Bay tidal pools.
