Embark on a fd tour to Fátima, a world-famous pilgrimage site, and explore Coimbra, one of Europe's oldest academic cities. Starting from Porto making our way to Coimbra, Portugal's academic capital, home to the oldest university in the country and 1 of the oldest in the world. Visit the Joanina Library, which boasts a collection of over 300,000 books & safeguards some of the country's rarest manuscripts. Next, the old Romanesque-style cathedral. Then across the river to visit the Santa Clara Convent & Quinta das Lágrimas, King Pedro & Inês' secret romantic rendevous. Stop for lunch at a downtown tavern before we head towards Fátima, where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to 3 shepherd chd in 1917. Also, visit the Basílica, the Church of the Holy Trinity, & the largest Catholic shrine in Portugal. Visit the Chapel of Apparitions, a small temple built at the request of Our Lady of Fátima when she appeared to the 3 shepherd children, and the century-old oak tree.
