You will meet your guide at the pier and start your journey to Dynjandi waterfall. There is also a stop in a historic town Þingeyri to enjoy light appetizers. Thingeyri is a small village situated on a spit of land in one of Iceland's most scenic fjords, Dýrafjörður. Like in most other seaside villages in Iceland, the culture and industry has been shaped by the sea throughout the centuries. Þingeyri provides various services to the surrounding countryside as well as to its visitors; a small shop, post office, bank and a swimming pool at the local sports hall.
This tour visits one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls and includes a drive through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Westfjords. Stop at Dynjandi Waterfall for an hour or hour and a half so you will have sufficient time to climb high above the car park to the base of the waterfalls for the amazing views of this beautiful part of the world. Dynjandi waterfall is the biggest waterfall in the Westfjords and truly deserves to be called the jewel of the Westfjords. It is, in my opinion, the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland, at least the most majestic waterfall I have seen in my country.
On the way back to Isafürdur you will have a stop at in old town Hrafnseyri to see the museum and the turf-roofed houses, as well as the old church. Don’t forget to taste here the cake and skyr with the tea as they are delicious. Hrafnseyri is an old town in the Westfjords that dates back to the Settlement Era and has links to Iceland’s independence movement. The church that stands outside is always open for guests. In the old turf house is a small coffee house where you can get soup, bread, coffee and homemade treats. The tour ends with the return to the port of Isafjordur.
