The Bay of Naxos is located on the east coast of Sicily, near Giardini Naxos, in the province of Messina. It is an enchanting bay overlooking the Ionian Sea, known for its crystal clear waters, sandy coastline and the panorama dominated by Mount Etna. Here was born the first Greek colony in Sicily in 734 BC.C., founded by Chalcidian settlers. Today it is a popular tourist destination for its beaches, the archaeological remains of ancient Naxos and proximity to Taormina.
