Near Porta Soprana, just outside the medieval walls, stands the Casa di Colombo, where Christopher Columbus spent his early years. Archival records indicate that his father, Domenico Colombo, moved there in 1445 when Columbus was four years old. The house, a modest yet historically significant structure, had a ground floor workshop where the family worked, while an attic with wooden beams separated it from the upper level, which served as the private living quarters. This small but important site offers insight into the early life of the famed explorer who would go on to change history. The surrounding area, rich in medieval charm, provides a glimpse into the past with nearby landmarks such as the Porta Soprana gate and the Sant’Andrea cloister, remnants of Genoa’s medieval heritage
