What you will see in Khlong Mon is a glimpse of everyday life, as it must have been many years ago, with elderly monks in faded orange tunics and slow-moving people who still smile at you as they clean the fish they cook from there within minutes.

Houses on stilts wide open to the sun, flowered balconies, swings on the river and lots of real life, lots of wood and little cement, all very characteristic, if you want to see Bangkok with another eye, without horrible buildings and useless skyscrapers this is your trip.

Itinerary

Bangkok

Once Bangkok was known as the "Venice of the East" because the city was built along the numerous waterways. Since then, many of the canals on the east side of the river have been filled, giving way to concrete and asphalt. On the west side of Thonburi, however, there are still traversable canals and they are excellent studies of how locals lived in the past. This excursion, with a long tail boat, takes you through its canals, locally known as Khlongs to explore the greenest and most peaceful part of Bangkok. Leave the city's hassle behind as you travel to the area where people live in houses on stilts and still travel by boat along the canals.
