Enjoy a private and authentic cooking class in a local's home. This is a perfect experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Kelly is a food enthusiast, who could talk about food and travel all day! Greece is very close to her heart and through this cooking experience she would like to share more about Greek history and culture through its food.
• Private Greek cooking lesson in Chania, Crete in a local's home • Learn about the 10 ground rules of the Mediterranean cuisine • Cook together a traditional Greek meal using family recipes • Enjoy a home-cooked Greek meal served with dessert and tea or coffee • Introduction to Greek ingredients, cuisine, culinary traditions and history • Vegetarian options available, on request
This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture. Join Kelly and Stella in their home to learn about Mediterranean food, its origins and cook together Greek cuisine. You will learn how to prepare traditional dishes that you won’t commonly find in a Greek restaurant. Kelly's warm, cozy, welcoming apartment is only 5-10 minutes from the town center. Learn to make 2 dishes from scratch using family recipes. After which, sit down at the dining table with your host Kelly and enjoy the meal you helped prepare. A few dishes that you might try are fava yellow split pea dip served with dakos (Cretan barley rusk), kalitsounia (hand made from scratch with filo pastry filled with local Cretan cheese and shallow fried until crispy and golden) or Glyko Kolokithokeftedes (aromatic pumpkin, feta and herb fritters) and gemista (rice stuffed vegetables baked with herbs) or chicken braise or papoutsakia (eggplants stuffed with a mince sauce and topped with béchamel). End your meal with a dessert such as Greek yoghurt with thyme infused Cretan honey, walnuts and pomegranate and Greek coffee or tea.
