This is a unique and fun way to explore the ancient Xochimilco canals because we can visit natural areas that are difficult to access with another type of boat.
The activity is carried out in individual recreational kayaks, very light and stable, so no previous experience is needed. Even though this is a very safe activity and a life vest will be provided, knowing how to swim is recommended.
Declared a UNESCO heritage site in 1987, the Xochimilco canals are an emblematic place in Mexico City and have played a very important role since ancient times. Today a big part of the nature of Xochimilco prevails, combined by cultural elements of its pre-Hispanic origins, art and colonial culture. During this activity we'll explore the colorful canals by kayak and get to know about the history and traditions of this beautiful place. We’ll also make a stop in a “chinampa” (artificial island) to have a delicious lunch prepared with local ingredients grown freshly at the location!
