The Aynu people are an indigenous group who have primarily lived in areas centered around Hokkaido, with many once residing in the Furano-Biei region. Shimukappu Village is covered by vast forests, and its famous Akaiwa Seigan Gorge is characterized by striking red and blue rocks shaped by the Mukawa River. This site is also considered sacred by the Aynu people and was historically used for their rituals.
On this tour, you will immerse yourself in Aynu spiritual culture alongside Keiichiro Yoshimura and Kozue Monbetsu, who have Aynu heritage. You will also experience a short trekking journey through the sacred Akaiwa Seigan Gorge, take part in an authentic Aynu ritual, and enjoy traditional Aynu cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Furthermore, you will visit a special exhibition museum, where you can directly touch traditional Aynu artifacts that have been used by the Aynu people themselves.
