Itinerary

Mosteiro De Sao Bento

We start our tour at the Monastery of São Bento, founded in 1590 by Benedictine monks. The monastery is a notable example of Baroque architecture in Brazil. Its church, dedicated to Our Lady of Montserrat, is richly decorated with gilded carvings.

Church of Our Lady of the Candelaria

The Candelária Church is one of the biggest and oldest churches from Rio. Being first a small chapel in the beginning of the 16th century, it was reconstructed from 1775 to 1898. The church has Baroque style mixed with Roccocó and Neoclassic and it is right in the middle of one of the most important avenues of Rio.

Feira Da Praca XV

Our next stop is Praça XV (Square XV), the heart of Rio’s main events from the colonial to the republic period. At the square you are going to see the Master Valentim Fountain, which used to be next to the entrance of the ancient harbor. You are also going to visit the Imperial Palace, the ancient coin house, a building full of history.
