Toyama City was selected as one of the "52 Places to Go in 2025" by The New York Times. As someone born and raised in this city, I would love to introduce my hometown to people worldwide.
First, we will take a city tram to Iwase Beach, where you can experience a rare scenic landscape — the breathtaking combination of the sea and 3,000-meter-class mountain ranges. If the weather is clear, you can enjoy this unique view.
Next, we’ll walk to the traditional housing district. Iwase once flourished as a hub for merchant shipping, and some of the old houses from that era are still standing today. We can visit them and step back in time to experience the town’s rich history.
After that, we’ll head to a local restaurant to enjoy fresh local food. You can also try sake tasting or craft beer.

Let's meet at a sign "North Exit" in JR Toyama station. Then, We will ride on the charming city tram (TOYAMA KOSEN). Toyama ~ Iwasehama ( Tram riding = about 25 min)

[Visiting Iwase area] Let’s start with a breathtaking view that is rare even worldwide—a stunning sight of 3,000-meter-class mountain ranges rising beyond the sea. (Available only on clear days when the mountains are visible.) After that, we'll visit a traditional Japanese house, where you can immerse yourself in the charm of authentic Japanese architecture. For lunch, we’ll head to a local restaurant run by friendly locals, offering delicious regional dishes. In the afternoon, you can choose how to unwind—try a sake tasting experience, compare different craft beers, or if alcohol isn’t your thing, relax with a cup of tea at a hidden gem of a tea house. It’s a perfect blend of nature, tradition, and local flavors!
