Road to Sheki City. Founded in the 8th century BC by Saka tribes Sheki city is located in the southern foothills of the Greater Caucasus. At present, Sheki is famous for production of silk and for its agricultural sector where tobacco, grapes, nuts, grain and milk are produced. It takes 5 hours to get there from Baku city.
Palace of Sheki Khans. This palace is one of the most valuable architectural monuments of the 18th century. It was built in 1797 by architect Haji Zeynalabdin. Incredible wall paintings and stained-glass mosaic windows impress visitors with their beauty.
Caravanserais. Shaki has long been famous as a city of craftsmen, artisans and, of course, merchants. Merchants and traders from the countries of the great Silk Road came here from all sides. That is why special attention was paid to the construction of caravanserais. For example, in the 18th – 19th centuries, 5 large caravanserais operated in Shaki.
