Step Pyramid of Djoser
1. The Pyramid of Djoser is located in Saqqara, Egypt. 2. It was built for Pharaoh Djoser of the 3rd Dynasty (around 2670 BCE). 3. Designed by his architect Imhotep, it is the first pyramid ever built. 4. It is also the world’s oldest large-scale stone structure. 5. The pyramid is a step pyramid with six tiers. 6. Originally about 62 meters tall, it dominates the surrounding complex. 7. The funerary complex includes temples, courtyards, and ceremonial buildings. 8. It was enclosed by a massive limestone wall with 14 false doors. 9. The complex reflects the transition from mastaba tombs to pyramids. 10. Pyramid of Unas
1. The Pyramid of Unas is located in the Saqqara necropolis, Egypt. 2. It was built for Pharaoh Unas, the last ruler of the 5th Dynasty. 3. The pyramid dates to around 2350 BCE. 4. Though small in size, it is historically significant. 5. It was the first pyramid to feature the Pyramid Texts, religious inscriptions. 6. These texts are the earliest known funerary writings in ancient Egypt. 7. The pyramid complex includes a causeway, valley temple, and mortuary temple. 8. Its original height was about 43 meters. 9. The interior chambers are richly inscribed with spells and hymns. 10. It marked a turning point in royal burial practices and religious beliefs.
1. The Tomb of Mehu is located in the Saqqara necropolis, near Cairo, Egypt. 2. It dates back to the 6th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom (around 2300 BCE). 3. Mehu was a high-ranking official and vizier under Pharaoh Teti. 4. His titles included Chief Justice, Overseer of Priests, and Director of the Palace. 5. The tomb was discovered in 1940 by Egyptian archaeologist Zaki Saad. 6. It remained closed to the public for many years due to restoration. 7. It was reopened to visitors in 2018. 8. The tomb is known for its vibrant and well-preserved wall reliefs. 9. Scenes include daily life, agriculture, fishing, and Mehu with his family. 10. It is considered one of the finest examples of Old Kingdom tomb art.
