Peruse the recently conserved, stunning Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College with a ticket from Over The Planet! Sometimes referred to as the 'Sistine Chapel of the UK', this site is known for having one of the largest ceiling paintings in northern Europe. It's a dining hall intended for naval veterans, and its floor-to-ceiling murals represent British power. With your ticket, enter the magnificent hall and uncover its amazing story, including how Thornhill created it. Learn about the many characters, including the gods and heroes shown on the ceiling as well. Wander the atmospheric grounds and view Tudor remains, too!
Public guided tours of the site running regularly throughout the day where you will learn about the story of the estate’s 500 years of history: from a manor house in 1420’s, rebuilt as Greenwich Palace for Henry VII and the birthplace of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I; to the commissioning of Sir Christopher Wren in 1694 by Royal warrant for the design of a Royal Hospital for Seamen; then in 1873 becoming the Royal Naval College
