I am a San Francisco native with six generations in the City. I have written three books about San Francisco and record a San Francisco factoid video almost every day. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community who is also an activist and organizer, I offer a perspective into this dynamic neighborhood that few others can.

Built in 1912, this building was originally named Das Deutsche Haus and served as a German social meeting hall before becoming the location of the Academy of Art Fashion School.

One of the largest providers of social services in the Tenderloin, Glide played a pivotal role in acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community by the San Francisco religious establishment.

- We will meet at California Hall, currently Academy of Art University School of Fashion. Please do not block the main entrance. There is an awning we will meet under.
End Points
- After our tour ends at Turk and Market, I will walk the group around the corner to Powell BART station and the cable car turnaround.
