【National Taiwan Museum】

The National Taiwan Museum was founded in 1908. It was formerly known as the Taiwan Governor-General Museum. It is the oldest existing museum in Taiwan and its main feature is the collection of natural history. The Museum of Paleontology was formerly the Taipei Branch of the Bank of Japan. In 1991, it was designated as a Class III historic site by the Ministry of the Interior. In 1997, it was changed to a Taipei City-designated historic site. Since 2005, the Taiwan Museum has been responsible for the restoration and subsequent operation and management of the historic site, positioning it as a museum of natural history and financial history.

The National Taiwan Museum's Nanmen Hall was built in 1899. It was formerly known as the Nanmen Factory. It was an important base for the camphor and opium monopoly during the Japanese colonial period. In 1931, it was renamed Taipei Nanmen Factory. The existing relics such as the Red Building and the Little White House were listed as national monuments in 1998. In 2006, they were included in the Taiwan Museum and used as an exhibition hall after restoration.

The Ministry of Railways Park of the National Taiwan Museum was the seat of the Taipei Machinery Bureau in the Qing Dynasty. It was also the first modern train repair industrial park in Taiwan. It later became the management center of Taiwan's railway transportation. When the new Taipei Station was completed in 1989, the space became idle after the Taiwan Railway Administration moved out. Since 2006, the National Taiwan Museum has cooperated with the Taiwan Railways Administration to promote the transformation of the Ministry of Railways into a museum park.
